The park itself is very nice and the campground is located at the very back. We had a full hook up site that is listed as a pull thru. As you approach the site the hook ups are next to the road so you loop into the site with the back of your rig facing the road and the front is facing into the woods...a little unusual but it gives you a lot of privacy. Our TV and TT are 50 plus feet long and our site was a bit of a challenge to get into and out of. I was there to work a trade show and was busy so I did not get to enjoy all the park had to offer but overall I was very satisfied with this park and campground

This park is just that, a place to park, so from that standpoint it's good. We had a site next to the highway so we did get some road noise. The sites are pretty close together but large enough to open your awning, etc. When visiting the Richmond area this place is relatively convenient and we will use it again.

Wow, what a nice place. Huge sites, nicely kept grounds, nice pool and other amenities. Staff was great. We had a little trouble with ants but a few shots of spray took care of the problem. It's a little far from the hustle and bustle but it's very quiet and secluded. Really enjoyed our stay. We will return.

We used this CG as an overnight stop. The clerk was friendly and the site was OK. Not much at this exit off of I-95, but the CG is close to the exit. The place was quiet and appeared clean and well kept. The store/office closes at 7 pm. We would use this CG again as an overnight but not as a destination.

We stayed overnight while passing through. This place is a work in progress...if/when they get finished it should be good but it's at an exit with not much around. The sites seem a bit small for a "resort", there are no trees/shade so it was hot. The young man managing the place was very nice and helpful, but no pool, no rec room, not much completed so it's got a ways to go to be a resort. We would stay again if passing through.

There is no question this park is a work in progress. There about 35 sites ready to go and there is a lot of construction going on. The staff was very helpful and friendly. A staff member mentioned the back in sites that are close together and said they will not have any more that are close together. We are about 50' long and we looked kinda lost in our pull-thru...it was huge. The plans call for about 100 sites to be ready by Memorial day. Once the place is finished it should be very nice with lots of shade and wide, long, terraced sites. As this park is close to home I am looking forward to it's completion. On the downside, so far no bath houses, only a very small playground, no pool, no camp store, laundry, etc. I had to grade the rest rooms and showers so I put we didn't use them...there are none yet. We plan to return when the project gets a little further along.

The staff is friendly and helpful. I asked for and got a site on the stream as we did not need sewer for two nights. Our site (I picked it looking at the map and got what I asked for) was a little tight. I had to back in so the utilities were on the wrong side. As we have plenty hose and electric cable it was not a problem. The cable hookup (12 channels) was on the other side. Other than making us look like a train wreck of wires and hoses it worked fine. This is a very neat, peaceful place. We would rate it higher if there were not issues with the placement of the utilities.

This park has new owners (the old owner is still there helping out) who appear to be very guest oriented and helpful. The park is well kept up and clean, the staff friendly and helpful. Our granddaughter really enjoyed the hayride and penny hunt. The park is a little tight and some sites are a little uneven but not bad considering this part of the country is very hilly. A nice park close to our home, we will return.

The sites are constructed to be level and very usable. As stated in other reviews I didn't see a bad site there. The grounds are VERY well maintained, no a speck of trash; the pool had so few users it seemed like a private pool. While I didn't use the restrooms and showers, I checked them out while I was using the laundry and everything appeared spotless. I had very little contact with the staff other than at checkin which was smooth and efficient. Other than the pool and a small playground there is very little for kids to do but overall a very clean, quiet place with great views. Good place to kick back and relax.

I have previously reviewed this park, last time I stayed on the lakefront, this time I was up on the hill in a site that was shady but had no view. Please don't get me wrong, this park has a lot going for it, some things in the area to tour, a nice pool, decent sites, a pleasant staff, and reasonable rates for the area. But for the life of me I cannot understand how this park is rated by Woodals and TL as high as it is. The roads are difficult to negotiate, mostly gravel, and very dusty. Most of the sites are close together, some pull thrus are two sites so if your neighbor leaves before you, you have to back out. CG activities are good but certainly not fantastic. I went back and read my last review to see if I missed something but the best I can rate is an 8...a good park, but certainly not worthy of the ratings.

Nice park, quick check-in, level sites, two nice pools, efficient staff. We used this park as an overnight stop but we plan to return to the area to meet some friends and tour the area and plan to use this park again.

We used this park as an overnight on our way to Erie. The sites were a little close but not objectionable and took very little leveling. The Grandkids LOVED the jumping pillow and the pool. Over all a fairly nice park with a pleasant and helpful staff.

A VERY nice park...best KOA we've ever stayed in. Staff was great from check in to departure. We stayed five nights. We had some heavy rains but the grounds drained fairly well. There was a low spot in our site and when I asked if anything could be done to get rid of the water the staff was there in about 20 minutes with a frontend loader full of gravel, moved our stuff, spread the gravel, moved the stuff back. The pool was clean, the grounds were clean, the place really appears well cared for. If we go back to the area we would stay there again.

We stay here a couple of times a year. Great park with a very nice pool facility. We were in the newer section this time with huge level, sites. The roads throughout the CG have been repaved making a great improvement. The staff (mostly summer help) were very much in evidence during our stay.

We hadn't been here in a couple of years but it hasn't changed much. Lots to do for the kids, the park is clean and seems well managed. We had a "super site" this time, which this early in the year is the same price as a regular FHU site but you get a concrete patio. It's nice but the sites are very close together and the regular FHU sites look a little bigger. We will go back when the pool and water park are open.

We have stayed here several times over the last three years. The owners a quite helpful, I needed a piece of wood cut to make a repair and the owner helped out very willingly. They are making numerous improvements...paved a very steep road on the back side. We will continue to use this park.

There are full hook up sites available. I stayed here as part of a business trip. It is basically a place to park with hookups; there are no other amenities. When I was there a dog show was in progress in the Fair facilities and a new car show was leaving. I don't think there is an on site office. The grounds has a police force who collect fees and police the area. I called ahead and was told there was no problem getting a site, but the nights I was there the place was pretty full. You may want to check the activities calendar for the Fair. If I am working or have some activity in the Raleigh area I would stay there again.

This park is very clean and appears well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a lakefront site and it appears the lake has been cleaned up based on other postings. The sites are a bit tight and the roads are unpaved but we did not have a problem. The traffic flow is a bit strange...getting to the dump station takes some maneuvering around. Overall, a good place.

The grounds were clean and appeared well kept. We stayed in the upper area and were a good distance from the bathhouse. The children had a blast playing in the stream and at the playground. The store has mostly tourist items but there is a small grocery/convenience store about two miles away. The staff was very nice and very helpful. It did not affect us but it appeared a number of sites, particularly those by the stream have the hookups on the "wrong" side making it difficult to get sited. We enjoyed our stay and will go back.

This is a good place for kids as there are a lot of activities going on, a swimming pool, swim lake, and the James river. We asked for and got a wooded site up on the hill. The site was on a dead end road so very little traffic, it was a little difficult to get into and out of and to level but ended up being very quiet and secluded. We had a very relaxing time. We took the river float trip...it was fun but way too long for us. The staff was polite and accommodating, the place was clean and maintained. I think the new owners (it's been a few years) have done a lot of upgrading and expansion. We will return with the grandchildren.

We are camping here for a week over the 4th. As noted the sites are very large, some shaded, some not. The bath houses are showing their age but have been well maintained and are clean. The grounds are clean and the grass looks nice. Because of the holiday weekend the place was full with a lot of extended families. The roads leading to the cg are pretty narrow and winding so caution is advised. This is a good public cg and we will return.

This is a very quiet park off the beaten path. The owners obviously take pride in the place, they were there cleaning and working both days we camped. The fish pond was a disappointment due the inaccessible edges and the sites were very close together but the place is clean and well maintained. We will return.

This state park is very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had a very nice visit with the camp hosts. The shower rooms are separate and we did not use them because we use the shower in the trailer but they appeared clean and neat when we looked at them. The rest rooms were good, not perfect. We camped in the older section where the roads are not as well maintained but the sites are more wooded. The newer section has better roads, 50 amp service, but is much more open. The sites are large, well maintained, and a good distance apart. There is a nice pool/water slide but it was not open yet. We did rent a canoe and paddle around the lake. We will return.

This campground is well maintained and clean. It's still early so not everything is ready to go yet. I was a little surprised that one of the bath houses was still closed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The sites are easy to get in and out of. Our only complaint was some all night partiers about five sites down. We plan to return.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The CG is three miles down a winding country road that could be a little intimidating on a dark wet night. The CG is rustic but very clean and even though the area is hilly the sites are level and easy to access. The management takes pride in the place and we will return.

We camped with extended family for two nights. The three sites we used were next to each other and except for being a little uneven were just what we needed. The staff was friendly and helpful making reservations and at check-in. Our only complaint was the copious amounts of mosquitoes. The staff sprayed but to no avail. We will return.

We were there early in the season so many of the facilities were not open (pool, etc.) but the place is well run with a pleasant staff and nice sites. We look forward to returning again this year.

We camped in the woods. It was early in the season and pool, etc. was not open but the place was clean and well kept. We were escorted to our site by the "Ranger". Check in was smooth and the staff was friendly. It is close to home and will be great fun for the grandchildren during the summer. We will return.

We tent camped at this campground...big mistake. As previously noted the facility is about 50 yards from I-95. The few tent sites available are poorly defined and we weren't sure exactly where our site lines ended. About one in the morning a car pulled up next to ours and two people proceeded to unload their stuff, then sleep in their car, then they left about 6 am??? We will not return.
